Unlike in the USA and some European Countries, obtaining rental insurance in the UK for a motorcycle can be almost impossible, despite it being a legal requirement.

 

As a result, the small number of UK motorcycle rental companies can be expensive, with some prices for modern touring machines easily exceeding £250 per day, plus insurance and various other fees.

In addition, the insurance offered by rental companies is likely to cover only third party risks, meaning that as well as paying a hefty deposit of up to £3000, you are then also liable to pay for any damage caused to the machine whilst it was in your care.

 

For riders from overseas, the cost of shipping your own machine to the UK can be prohibitive, and recent talks of tariffs make the total cost of this unpredictable and troublesome.

Similarly, buying a reliable machine which is fully serviced and ready to take on an adventure can be a challenge, with the associated hassle of trying to re-sell the machine at the end of your touring vacation.

 

 

We believe we have come up with a solution to this dilemma:

 

How Does The Deal Work?

• We sell you a fully serviced and tested, used Honda ST1300 in very good condition for just £3000
• Residents from overseas are legally entitled to buy a UK registered machine, and will assist with this process and also provide you with written confirmation of the change of ownership to you.
• You can then obtain short-term full cover motorcycle insurance in your name for any period from one week to 90 days at a competitive rate.

 

Now this is the clever bit:

At the end of your touring trip, we GUARANTEE to buy back your ST1300 for the FULL purchase price that you paid for it, less £100 per day for each day of your ownership, plus a reasonable administration fee for dealing with the change of ownership for both your purchase, and the sale back to us of your machine.

 

There is no sales tax to pay on the purchase of used vehicles in the UK.

 

We will assist you in obtaining an insurance quote in advance of your trip, and will require written proof of your insurance before you take your machine.

 

Obviously we would expect the machine to be returned to us in good condition, with no accident damage, and with only reasonable wear and usage. 

 

For example:

• You buy a machine from us, and ride it for seven days, returning it with no significant damage.
• We will guarantee to buy it back for the £3000 you paid for it, less (7 days x £100), less admin fee of £75

                  = £2225 returned to you.

 

At the end of your vacation, we will check the machine, and then transfer the money direct into your account before you leave us. We re-assume ownership of the vehicle, leaving you with no vehicle or legal obligations in respect of it here in the UK.
